Pictures? We got ‘em!

There have been some really beautiful photos taken in the last five days, but sadly, all we have at the moment are our hurried, blurry takes (it’s hard to take a picture of the baby when you’d really rather be holding her). But without further ado, here’s Miss Lydia Louise:

Aw, shucks. We sure do like her.

Lydia Louise

Today (which happens to be mother’s day) was the birthday of little baby girl named Lydia. Her mother is camped out in a hospital bed with her new bundle of joy. She will be back writing of all her parental adventures in the near future. What else is she going to do with her time? Eat bon-bons and watch soap operas all day long?

It occurs to me

…that it’s just plain rude to keep you waiting between posts at such a time as this. The baby’s still cooking away despite a few taunting false starts, so we’re just waiting now – sleeping in, listening to good music, making a delicious Saturday morning feast, fielding phone calls from inquiring minds who, you know, want to know – hoping that the pace picks up soon.

Meanwhile, our bags are packed, our cell phones constantly on and charged up because, for what it’s worth, tomorrow is The Due Date. We make plans delicately and amend them with the condition “…unless we’re having a baby!”

So, I’ll do my best to keep you posted on the state (or non-state) of things…unless we’re having a baby. (But I will definitely let you know if that’s my reason for skipping out on the posts!)

Note: We have both started accounts on Twitter, so if you want little updates, that’s probably the best way to go about it, though you do need to have a Twitter account in order to follow us.

But sometimes strangers say really sweet things

At various points in my life (for various neurotic reasons) I’ve suspected that people are staring at me, but now – maybe it’s the bright red coat, maybe it’s the (almost) nine months of pregnancy – I’m convinced. They really are staring at me. All the time.
